Suzuki at 80

After more than 50 years in the public eye, you may think you’ve seen David Suzuki in just about every way possible: almost naked, confronting industry, arguing with government, jumping out of planes, skateboarding down the street, and even buried up to his neck in a bog. No wonder we all think we know who he is. But in this deeply personal show you’ll meet a David Suzuki you haven’t seen before.

We join Suzuki on a typical day in his life: from his early morning stroll, to the studio and the field to record segments for The Nature of Things. Interviews with his family reveal the husband, father and grandfather known to his grandkids as “Bompa”. We share funny, frustrating and inspiring moments as old friends weigh in and colleagues from the Nature of Things share surprising behind-the- scenes stories.

For David this intimate portrait is an opportunity to share what he’s learned and his hopes for the future. Rooted in his scientific training and his environmental activism these are reflections on everything else: from his personal heroes to his own mortality, from family to confrontation and cooperation.
